Day on the farm............

This is the alfalfa pellet feeder at the farm (posted for someone to look at). I can fill this feeder from my side of the barn, no going in with the goats to be mauled! This feeder is 10 feet long and eaisly handles 10 does, when they are very pregnant there is alot of jokeying for position.

Up at 4am to take a doeling to the airport for her trip to her new home. This is Lonesome Doe Dixie Chick.

Houston traffic was non exsistant at that time in the morning, it all went without a hitch and she got to her new home. Having had storms all evening I wasn't sure how bad the roads would be so got there way to early. Got back home about 6am grabbed a few more hours of sleep.

10 am milking, course with a milking machine is it really work? I have 8 kids on the lambar and 1 infant kid still on the bottle. Froze most of the 6 gallons I milked for sale this weekend, pasteurizing the rest for the goatlings lunches. Got my grandson down for a nap so made 2 batches of soap. Ordered some more shea and got my coconut oil in todays mail.

Out with the hens and some are not getting their feathers back after molting like I would have hoped although everyone is laying well. I just love the black astrolorps, they lay no matter what. Eggs are selling for $3 a dozen so I am thinking about getting some more hens, I sell all my 12 can lay plus some for a neighbor.

Out to the garden, which is new this year. We fenced and are going all out with a water feature and even a place to sit and get away from it all...we live in the country and still need a place to get away from it all! Got more cucumbers and pole beans planted, the garden is looking less naked. Put in 5 Clemitis the purple and white ones to grow on the trellis entrance to the garden with the cross hanging from not sure if it doesn't look a little to gothic for my tastes.

Orders of soap to box up, and a house to get ready for a MIL visit, yep I am 51 and I still anghst about my MIL visiting! A barn to finish cleaning for my last customer of the year purchasing milkers.

Beef for the day: Why are there so few speed limit signs on Houston Freeways...I drove for at least 5 miles at 70 before seeing that I was supposed to be going 55!

Tip for the day: Quick Bayt, if you aren't using this miricle for flies on your farm buy it! I sprinkle some on a feed sack on my side of the barn, I have zero flies...OK I have some flies right after rains, but I do not have flies like you would associate with a farm with animals for 22 years!
